List: The Best Things About November

It always feels like as soon as Halloween hits, we start to catapult to Christmas and New Year's. But before you start stressing about gift giving, or hanging up those lights, there's plenty to look forward to in November (besides Thanksgiving, of course!)

1. The Election

This election has seemed to last forever, but we only have a week to go! Be sure to get out there and vote. Then we can all hopefully go back to our regularly scheduled programming that doesn't involve pussy grabbing or emails.

2. Fall Fashion

Cozy socks! Cozy sweaters! Cozy leggings! Yes, there's more to fall fashion than being cozy, but isn't that the best part?

3. Cold-Weather Drinks

I'm talking about more than a Pumpkin-Spice Latte, people (although that is very good, too!) Fall has some of the most delicious cocktails that will warm you from the inside out. Delish has a wonderful list.

4. Chili and Stew Season

Another highlight of cool days, getting warmed up by some delicious chili and stews. Bonus: you can make it in your crockpot and let the delicious aromas fill your house all day!

5. Movember

Men get to put away their razors for a month and bring some awareness to men's health. For more information, check out: Movember.

6. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

One of my favorite childhood traditions is waking up on Thanksgiving Day and watching all the floats with my parents. Now that I no longer live at home, we'll still call each other and comment on our favorite floats and performances.

7. Breeders’ Cup

Fans of horse-racing look forward to this race every year. It marks the end of the championship series each year and the location varies. This year it takes place at my local racetrack: Santa Anita!

8. Native American Heritage Month

More than ever, it's so important we celebrate and recognize the rich traditions of Native Americans. For ways to get involved or educate yourself, go here.

9. Daylight Saving Time Ends

It's time to "fall back" and get an extra hour of sleep (yay!) Yes, it means shorter days, but it also means more time to cuddle on the couch with some delicious stew or warm drink.

10. November Movies

November often marks the start of the year's most-anticipated movies and this year is no exception. Here are a few I'm looking forward to that are out later this month: Dr. Strange, Arrival, Fantastic Beasts, Moana, Bleed for This, Allied.

11. NanoMo (National Novel Writing Month)

Many writers make the commitment to write 50,000 words during the month of November. Does that sound daunting? You can break it down to less than 2000 words a day (or about two pages). To sign up, go here.

12. Transgender Awareness Week

Another great way to raise visibility and awareness of issues! For more information and how to get involved, go here.

13. Black Friday

Arguably the best deal day of the year! And now that there's this glorious thing called the internet, you don't have to battle the crowds or get up at the crack of dawn to score some great deals (although you can, if you want to!) Also, be sure to participate in Small Business Saturday, as well.

14. Thanksgiving Break

Not only do we get to have a day off to relish in gratitude and delicious food, we get a full four-day weekend! That extra day is always appreciated!

15. Thanksgiving Food

This list would be remiss if I didn't include the one thing November is most-known for: THE FOOD. Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Pumpkin Pie... it's all. so. good. Man, is it November 24 yet?

What are you most looking forward to this November?
